New Year’s Eve in Melbourne features a massive amount of events & activities for you to choose from! So many award winning restaurants, our laneways with hidden bars and cafes or stay at home and watch Melbourne’s New Year live on television. Or, enjoy the live free entertainment at one of Melbourne’s many Midnight Live Sites and watch the fireworks curated to their own soundtrack.
EARLY CELEBRATIONS NYE:
Early Eve at Yarra Park offers great family fun without the need to stay around until midnight. At 6pm roving performers will entertain you and your family along with great carnival rides. All the family can enjoy great activities like, Karaoke 4 kids, sporting workshops & face painting. Of course no NYE would be complete with a fantastic lineup of local stage acts. At 9.30pm as the there will be a NYE worthy fireworks display so the kids won’t miss out on the fun.
It’s easy to get to the venues and get home safely with public transport. The Early Eve celebrations are a great way for the whole family to get involved in NYE. Bring a rug, a picnic basket if you want, find a patch of grass and share a few hours as we celebrate the New Year together in Melbourne.

MIDNIGHT LIVE SITES:
The Midnight Live Sites at Treasury Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens and Docklands will provide free music and entertainment from 9pm. Our large multimedia entertainment ‘nests’ complete with music, visuals and pyrotechnic effects will have you amazed! You will be able to dance the night through with some of Melbourne’s most popular DJs including Steve Wide, DJ Ennio Styles, MZ Rizk, DJ Ms Butt,Chris Gill, DJ Manchild and Hippopotamus Rex.
As it gets closer to midnight, you will be able to take part in the official countdown and watch the sky erupt in an kaleidoscopic display of light and colour. Melbourne’s beautiful skyline will be the perfect backdrop, as the fireworks are launched from many of our city’s landmark buildings.

From anywhere you can view the Melbourne city skyline, you can witness the fireworks display. More rooftops than ever will feature in the dazzling display, and there are plenty of prime vantage points across the city and beyond where you can see the magic.

Can’t see the skyline? Never fear! You can still join in the celebration. Watch the live broadcast on Channel 7 from 11.30pm and enjoy a 2012 retrospective, with coverage from our Midnight Live Sites and an inside-look at this year’s main event.

NEED TO KNOW:
New Year’s Eve live sites are alcohol-free events. Fines apply. New Year’s Eve is a major event and large crowds are expected. If traveling into the city, delays should be anticipated. The best way to travel to and from the New Year’s Eve celebrations is by public transport or by foot.
