Atta Restaurant

NYE conciergeAtta Restaurant NYE tips

During the week some of the NYE crew visited Atta Restaurant in Albert Park. This intriguing restaurant is situated on a tram line that ends at the beachside Boulevard on the Albert Park beach.  It really is a gorgeous part of this Melbourne town and onewe'd love to get to more often.

We say "intriguing" about Atta as their website directs that their goal is to deliver food that stimulates the senses.  And our crew were hyped in anticipation for what that meant at this modern Indian retreat.  The maitre d, Brij made the team welcomed along with the staff wearing smiles as standard like an apron.

Great setting and good rooms.  We started drinks with a bottle of Paringa Estate Pinot Noir and some sparkling water.  Pappadums also greeted our table. Leaving the menu to Vraj our terrific host waiter we were in good hands. Some signature dishes and some old favourites followed.

Entrees of Chatpatta Paan, Chooza Chattinad and Sikandari Raan had the teams senses awake. The latter is a Atta signature and tribute to Alexander the Great. With some terrific positive feedback like "wow that was like an explosion in my mouth". The team were impressed.

The mains were curries of a little more familiarity. A Lamb Korma and Beef Mircha and Murgh Biryani.  You must get the Biryani as it is a terrific accompaniment to the curries.  Also sides of pickles and raita.   With the wine these were washed down with some awesome refreshing mocktails. Mango Lassi, Mojito, Pina Colada and a Ginger Cooler.   It was hard to pick a favourite as all were refreshing and full of flavours.

A great evening and really enjoyed the venue and service.  We can see that this will become a favourite for NYE with people eating and drinking well before heading to midnight celebrations.

Atta Restaurant Location:

This fabulous Indian twist restaurant is situated in the beachside suburb of Albert Park . On the day our NYE crew visited the gorgeous sun was setting to a still evening. It was heavenly.  The restaurant is in a little strip shopping area of Victoria Street.  It's pretty nice area and enjoyable surrounds to take in.

Accommodation ideas and notes:

There should be plenty of accommodation options. It's not far from Port Melbourne, South Wharf or St Kilda where there are many accommodation options.  And the tram right out front increases access for tourists.

Car Parking and drop off tips:

Around the street area there are timed parking area and permit only parking so do be careful.  In terms of dropping off or taxi you should be able to alight right out front.  Another option is the trams that come and go every 10 or so minutes.  We would estimate it would be about a leisurely 20 minutes by tram into the city.   And the beach is right there for a walk too!

On first bite it was like an explosion of flavours in my mouth. The food was awesome. I can definitely see people enjoying NYE dinner at Atta.
